The Gaelic football

Gaelic football is a mixture of football and rugby. IT is the most popular sport in Ireland before the normal football. Gaelic football was created at the end of the 19 century in order to preserve traditional Irish culture. There are 2 teams of 15 players. On each side of the field, there are vertically as in rugby. If a team sends the ball into the goal and the goalkeeper doesn’t stop it then they score 3 points. If they send the ball over the goal posts between the posts they win one point.

Hurling

Hurling is a game of speed and cleverness. Hurling is played with        a leather ball ( sliotar) and a stick (camàn). Each team consists of 15 players. Each goal scored is worth 3 points and each shot that crosses the opponent is worth 1 point.

Rugby

Rugby is a popular sport that is part of the national culture of Ireland even if the sport competes with Gaelic sports and football.

Football

Football is the most popular non Gaelic. The Irish are very fond of football matches.

Le football Gaélique

Le football gaélique est un mélange de football et de rugby. C’est le sport le plus populaire en Irlande devant le football. Le football gaélique a été créé à la fin du 19^e siècle dans le but de préserver la culture irlandaise traditionnelle. Ce jeu oppose 2 équipes de 15 joueurs. Si une équipe rentre la balle dans le but sans que le gardien  l’arrête elle marque 3 points. Si elle envoie la balle au-dessus du but entre les 2 poteaux elle inscrit 1 point.

Hurling

Le Hurling est un jeu de vitesse et d’habileté. Le hurling est joué avec une balle en cuir (un sliotar) et une crosse (un camàn). Chaque  équipe est formée de 15 joueurs. Chaque goal marqué vaut 3 points et chaque tir qui traverse la ligne adverse représente 1 point.

Rugby

Le rugby est un sport populaire qui fait partie de la culture nationale de l’Irlande même si ce sport est en concurrence avec les sports gaéliques et le football.

Le Football

Le football est le plus populaire des sports non gaéliques. Les irlandais sont très friands de matches de football.
